The Austrian Football Association must cope with another departure.
Florent Hajdini from SKU Amstetten is turning his back on the ÖFB after 26 youth international appearances. In the future, the 20-year-old defensive midfielder will play for Kosovo's U21 national team.
He recently only made it onto the standby list for the Austrian U21 team.
The Reason for the Nationality Switch
Hajdini cited his conversation with Hekuran Kryeziu, head coach of the Kosovan U21 national team, as a contributing factor for his decision.
"I spoke with Kryeziu, and he presented his plan to me. I agreed with great enthusiasm to play for Kosovo. The invitation from Austria came earlier, but after this conversation, I decided to represent my country. I am grateful to Austria for everything, but my heart beats for Kosovo," Hajdini is quoted by various foreign media.
The ÖFB recently lost two promising talents, Salko Hamzic and Ermin Mahmic, to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
