Salzburg to trial captain of the Swedish U15 national team
The center-back is expected to undergo a trial training session at FC Red Bull Salzburg later this month. His contract with Malmö FF expires at the end of the season.
In search of new talents, FC Red Bull Salzburg is said to have set its sights on a 15-year-old center-back from Malmö FF. This emerges from a report by "Fotbollskanalen".
The object of desire is Sebastian Sanchez Eliasson, captain of Blågult's U15 team. The Swede with Chilean roots turned 15 at the beginning of the year and is currently without a contract for next season.
This has now apparently prompted the club from Salzburg to invite the youngster for a trial. According to the report, it is already confirmed that he will join FC Red Bull Salzburg this month.
Ågren: "We cannot stop him"
However, Malmö FF is also still trying to keep Sanchez Eliasson, who is expected to be promoted to the U19 team. "We are in talks with Sanchez and his agent. We have, as occasionally happens, granted him permission to leave the premises at his request. As long as he has not signed a contract with us, we cannot stop him," said Per Ågren, Sporting Director of Malmö's youth.
Besides the risk that Sanchez Eliasson might decide on a different career move, "there's also an opportunity when you go out and sometimes realize that the grass isn't greener on the other side," Ågren added.
A final decision on where the Swedish youth international will continue his career will be made after his trial training with the "Bulls".
