After Schöttel's Departure: Katzer Reportedly Interested in ÖFB Succession

The ÖFB is looking for a new man after the departure of ÖFB Sports Director Peter Schöttel.
In addition to Sebastian Prödl, who was mentioned as a favorite from the start, the list of possible successors is now getting longer. As the "Salzburger Nachrichten" report, Rapid Sports Director Markus Katzer is also interested in the position.
Katzer has been in charge at Rapid since 2023, having previously worked for First Vienna.
Decision Expected by End of Year
Furthermore, former ÖFB player and active TV expert Marc Janko is named by the medium, as are Austria's assistant coach Stefan Oesen and Peter Stöger.
Günter Kreissl, who has been responsible for youth development and goalkeeper training at the ÖFB for several years, is also said to be a possible candidate.
A final decision is expected by the end of the year.
