First League Win! Torres Secures Three Points for PSG Against Brest
The PSG player gives his team an early lead, but the visitors do not put in a convincing performance on Sunday.
On the fourth matchday of Ligue 1, PSG celebrates a narrow 1-0 away victory against Stade Brestois, taking a small step in the right direction.
Torres scores the winning goal after just five minutes. Following assists from Neves and Dembele, he has no trouble tapping it in.
PSG doesn't let up, pushing the hosts deep into their own half. Kvaratskhelia tries it himself, but narrowly fails to beat the goalkeeper (22.).
However, Brest doesn't hide after about half an hour either, but the final pass doesn't connect, so it's 1-0 heading into the break.
Brest Has Better Chances in Second Half
The hosts come out of the break with pace and Doumbia has a prime chance to equalize. After a major error by Mendes, however, the Brest player hits the post. Shortly after, Doumbia misses again following a well-placed cross from Locko (57.).
But PSG also fails to convert two opportunities through Neves (69th/71st minute). Doue experiences something similar, missing the goal by just a few centimeters. Thus, the Parisians secure a 1-0 hard-fought victory.
In the table, PSG sits in seventh place after their first league win. After their first defeat of the season, Brest also has five points to their name.
