Diakité Scores on Debut
The evening turns out almost even better for Oumar Diakité. The new signing comes on in the second half for the injured Seedy Jatta and scores precisely the decisive 2-1.
"I am very happy about my debut," says the striker. He wanted to make a good impression in his first game for Sturm and is therefore particularly pleased about the successful start.
He set up his goal with an early run. Diakité recognized that the LASK defense was having problems and immediately sprinted forward.
When the ball finally came to him, he just looked for the finish. The situation was "like a movie" for him. The atmosphere in the stadium also impressed him. "I love it," Diakité says about the support from the Sturm fans.
Ingolitsch Praises Performance
Fabio Ingolitsch sees his team's intensity as the key to success: "We were energetic, we were aggressive."
Although LASK had more possession, the Sturm coach saw the clearer opportunities for his team. Sturm was also ahead in terms of Expected Goals. The match was also "wild and chaotic."
With Diakité, they consciously gained more physical presence in attack. Overall, Ingolitsch is satisfied with the new signings: "I am extremely satisfied with our transfer program as a whole."
The victory at LASK thus brings Sturm important three points and additional self-confidence for the upcoming challenges.
