Winning Goal in Stoppage Time: Crucial Relief for FAK!

Wiener Austria secured a late 2-1 victory against promoted side Austria Lustenau on Sunday on the sixth matchday of the ADMIRAL Bundesliga.

The clash of the Austrias started rather cautiously, with Lustenau in particular focusing on defense early on. The Violets initially became somewhat dangerous from two corners, but both Handl (5') and Eggestein (14') missed the target, and Handl again failed with a header against Lustenau goalkeeper Schierl (15'). Violets captain Fischer sent what was until then Vienna's best chance from open play into the side netting.

Supertalent Nnodim Forced Off Injured

Around ten minutes before the break, the visitors from Lustenau pushed forward. Verinac narrowly missed from a tight angle (37'), then Vienna suffered a further setback due to an injury. Nnodim had to be substituted and disappeared into the dressing room with a heavily bandaged left knee.

Weixelbraun exploited the uncertainty in the Violets' defense caused by the forced substitution with a long-range shot (42'). Just seconds later, he appeared alone in front of Sahin-Radlinger after an ideal through ball, only to be denied by a strong save from the FAK goalkeeper (43').

Green-White Austria Takes the Lead After the Break

The very last minutes before the break again belonged to the Viennese. Eggestein's shot was deflected onto the post by Chukwu (45'+1), and shortly after, the ball was in the net. However, Lee Kang-Hee's supposed goal did not count because near-assist provider Fischer was offside (45'+3).

Immediately after the break came the cold shower for the Violets: Lustenau intercepted the ball in midfield, and Delaye, who had only been substituted in for the second half, immediately played a through ball into the path of Weixelbraun. Alone in front of Austria keeper Sahin-Radlinger, Weixelbraun kept his nerve and slotted it in, and in the 47th minute, Lustenau Austria took the lead.

The Violets found few answers to the lead. Handl's header against the crossbar came from an offside position (55'), otherwise, despite a lot of possession, Vienna hardly created any chances. Lustenau, on the other hand, also hit the post through Delaye (75').

Late Triumph for the Violets

Because Precious Benjamin also had a supposed goal disallowed for offside (80'), Vienna remained in the game. Through Hettwer, who tapped a Boateng square pass from close range into the net, the equalizer, celebrated in Wien-Favoriten, was also achieved after 82 minutes played.

In stoppage time, Vienna turned the game around. Lee Kang-Hee still thundered his header against the crossbar, but Boateng took the rebound out of the air and volleyed it in (90'+3).

With the late victory, Wiener Austria climbs to eighth place in the table with six points, moving past five clubs, and sends the "Red Lantern" to Altach. Lustenau remains on five points and slips to ninth place, behind Wiener Austria.
