Sebastian Prödl is considered one of Schöttel's possible successors. The former international was appointed as the sporting director of the youth national teams at the beginning of 2025 - also at Rangnick's request for additional personnel in this sensitive area.
In this role, the 39-year-old is responsible, among other things, for the association's handling of players who, due to their origin, are eligible to play for several different nations.
