Thanks to two maiden goals: BW Linz back on top

Blau-Weiß Linz win the IMMOunited top match of the 7th round of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga against Admira Wacker with a score of 3:0 and thus reclaim the league lead.

The Linz side get off to a perfect start.

Madritsch scores on starting XI debut

After an initial chance for Ronivaldo (7'), Diego Madritsch struck just one minute later. Frieser delivered the ball perfectly into the middle, where the new signing scored with a header to make it 1-0 on his starting XI debut (8').

Blau-Weiß remained on the front foot afterwards. After a corner kick from Weinhauer, Alem Pasic hit the crossbar (15').

Admira then got into the game a bit better. Sandro Steiner narrowly missed the goal with a long-range shot (21').

After that, the league leaders took command again. Ronivaldo came closest to the second goal, but his curled shot went just wide of the top left corner (34').

Shortly before halftime, BW keeper Giuliani also had to make a proper save for the first time. The goalkeeper was on hand for a shot from Nyarko (39'). In the direct counter-attack, Ronivaldo narrowly missed a cross from Vucic from a promising position (40').

The Linz side eventually went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Open exchange after the break

After the break, Admira immediately made a statement. Weberbauer shot from distance, the ball bounced awkwardly in front of Giuliani. The BW goalkeeper managed to parry the shot with difficulty (47').

But the Linz side also remained dangerous. A shot from Tsarenko was deflected for a corner (51').

Shortly afterwards, Admira keeper Steinbauer almost single-handedly prevented the decisive goal. First he saved against Vucic, then also against Frieser (55'). Blau-Weiß should have extended their lead at the very latest after this double chance.

On the other side, Giuliani also distinguished himself again. The recently substituted Alexander Schmidt shot, but the Linz goalkeeper was down in time and made a strong save (61').

Substitute seals the deal

Shortly afterwards, the substitute for the Linz side did better. Tsarenko perfectly set up Jacob Collmann, who scored to make it 2-0 with his first touch of the ball (66').

With that, the 25-year-old provided the decisive goal for the Linz side with what was also his first goal for the club.

In the final phase, Admira, in the person of Forst, again came close to a consolation goal (79'), but ultimately remained unlucky this evening.

Instead, Weinhauer even extended the lead to 3-0 with a header after superb preparatory work by Collmann (86').

Thus, the league leaders stand at 18 points after seven rounds and are again the sole leaders.

Vienna had previously taken the lead with a win against Hertha Wels and temporarily taken over first place.

Admira, however, must suffer another setback after two recent successes. The Lower Austrians remain in ninth place with nine points.
