After Red Card: FAC Thrashes Liefering
Following an early red card for the Young Bulls, FAC ruthlessly exploited their numerical advantage. The match ended in a clear home victory.
FAC prevailed 4-0 against FC Liefering on the seventh matchday of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga.
Both teams had entered the match with ten points; the home victory saw Floridsdorfer (FAC) temporarily jump to third place. Liefering, however, suffered their second consecutive defeat.
Liefering Starts Dominantly
The visitors got off to the better start and clearly dictated proceedings in the opening quarter of an hour. The Young Bulls recorded around 80 percent possession during this period.
The first chance also belonged to Danny Galm's team. Nico Masching curled a free-kick from a promising position over the wall but was denied by FAC goalkeeper Paul Scharner (3').
After 24 minutes, however, the game completely turned. Emil Ganser, making his starting XI debut for Liefering, stopped Amir Abdijanovic, who was running alone towards goal, just outside the penalty area and received a red card for a professional foul.
It marks the third sending-off for the Young Bulls this season.
Abdijanovic placed the resulting free-kick just wide of the goal (26'). Shortly thereafter, however, FAC exploited their numerical advantage.
FAC Ruthlessly Exploits Numerical Advantage
Vucenovic sent his strike partner Abdijanovic through from a turn. The new signing remained composed in front of Jonas Winklhofer and lobbed the Liefering keeper to give FAC the lead (29'). It was Abdijanovic's first goal in an FAC jersey.
The hosts now had the upper hand and should have extended their lead shortly after. Abdijanovic narrowly missed the top right corner from eleven meters (31'), before Vucenovic, alone in front of Winklhofer, also failed to score a second goal (32').
Just four minutes later, Abdijanovic again missed from a completely free position from around 15 meters (36').
Liefering survived the period of pressure and even had a chance to equalize just before halftime. Ilia Ivanschitz had a shot from the edge of the penalty area but put the ball over the bar (44').
FAC thus went into halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Geris Seals Decisive Goal
Shortly after the restart, the goalscorer had to leave the field injured. Abdijanovic was substituted due to a muscle injury (51').
Even without their striker, FAC remained the dominant team.
After 64 minutes, the decisive goal finally came. Thomas Geris broke through with a strong individual effort and extended the lead to 2-0.
Liefering could no longer find a response. Instead, substitute Tomislav Glavan definitively put the game beyond doubt. After a cross, the super-sub rose highest and headed in for 3-0 (73').
In the final phase, Onwuzulike fouled Glavan in the box, Piskuele took responsibility from the spot, sent Winklhofer the wrong way, and scored for the 4-0 final score (81').
With the clear victory, Floridsdorfer (FAC) now have 13 points and jump to third place in the table. Liefering remains sixth with ten points.
