Game Turned Around! BW-Linz Wins Upper Austria Derby
Linz turn the game around in the second half and remain at the top of the table.
Blau-Weiß Linz prevails 4:1 against FC Hertha Wels in the Upper Austria Derby on the sixth matchday of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, securing their fifth win in six games.
Playing at home, Linz start with intensity and create their first chance in the third minute through Ronivaldo. His shot is cleared off the line at the last moment.
However, the visitors find their way into the game better and score the opening goal with almost their first top chance. After a counter-attack, Malinowski breaks through on the right side and converts to make it 1:0 (21').
A similar action occurs in the 39th minute. After winning possession, Wels once again charge towards the Linz goal. This time, however, captain Keckeisen misses.
The home team has more possession but can barely create danger, while the opponents secure their lead and prove to be more efficient for now. Thus, the visitors go into halftime with a narrow lead.
Substitute Scores Equalizer
Coach Köllner aims to send a signal with a triple substitution at the restart. It almost works. Ronivaldo has the equalizer at his feet but fails to beat goalkeeper Schrocker after a cross (54').
Riegler does better shortly after. After the Wels goalkeeper fails to clear a corner kick, the substitute is in the right place and equalizes to make it 1:1 (61').
In front of approximately 5240 spectators, the hosts want to press on. Vucic is sought, but Keckeisen manages to stop him (66').
Ronivaldo Turns the Game Around
Wels can't withstand the pressure much longer. Striker Ronivaldo is sent deep after winning possession. He slots the ball into the far corner, thus turning the game around (74').
After the restart, the visitors immediately have a chance for the next goal. However, Kregar is denied by the impressively saving goalkeeper.
However, the goal falls on the other side. Ronivaldo assists Tsarenko. He extends the lead to 3:1 (77').
But Wels don't give up either. Müller misses from distance (81'). However, Linz have the final say. After the visitors fail to clear the ball, it falls to Weinhauer. He scores the fourth goal.
In the table, BW Linz is back at the top. Wels remains on four points and is 14th.
