Crazy Final Phase! Sturm Graz II Lets Victory Slip Away
Salzburg takes an early lead, Sturm initially turns the game around, but has to concede an equalizer twice.
Austria Salzburg and Sturm Graz II draw 3-3 on Matchday 6 of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga after an eventful final phase.
The hosts have been plagued by injuries multiple times this season. In the last game against Vienna, substitute captain Luca Meisl was added to the injury list, leaving the squad stretched thin.
Nevertheless, Salzburg gets a dream start. In the fifth minute, Gebauer takes a free-kick from a good position after Crnkic is brought down. He scores off the inside of the post into the bottom right corner.
The Styrians have their best notable chance in the 19th minute. Gurmann tries from outside the box, but his shot is parried by Nesler Täubl. Otherwise, the Salzburgers defend compactly and create further opportunities through Gebauer (25th/29th).
A scare occurs after about 35 minutes. Rohrmoser stays down after a collision. After a treatment break, he can leave the field independently, but has to be substituted.
Sturm Equalizes Before Half-Time
Shortly before half-time, Graz becomes dangerous again and celebrates the equalizer (45th). Nnamdi breaks through on the right side and finds Peinhart with his cross. He heads it in for the 1-1 half-time score.
Salzburg comes out of the locker room well and has the first opportunity through Eder. He gets a free shot and beats the Graz goalkeeper. However, Roche makes a goal-line clearance, preventing the hosts from taking the lead again (48th). Five minutes later, Lorenz is also there.
Graz Turns the Game Around
After a counter-attack, Eder has the chance for 2-1. He breaks through but ultimately fails against the strongly parrying goalkeeper (61st), and Gebauer also misses (70th).
Sturm does better. Lang is left unmarked in the box and can turn the game around with the 2-1 (79th). However, Salzburg responds seven minutes later. Huetz equalizes for 2-2.
Salzburg Comes Back Twice
However, the visitors do not give up. In the 90th minute, Grgic puts his team ahead again, but once again the Salzburgers come back.
Eder gets to the ball after a rebound and scores the 3-3 equalizer in the final seconds.
In the table, Salzburg has 10 points and is in seventh place. Sturm II is eleventh with seven points.
