Efficient Admira overcomes Hertha Wels

Admira Wacker gained some breathing room in the IMMOunited top match of the 5th round against Hertha Wels, winning 3:1.

As early as the third minute, Wels had a prime scoring opportunity. Mankan delivered a perfect cross to Kregar, who finished with an overhead kick. Admira keeper Steinbauer dived and fished the ball out of the bottom left corner.

Admira's number 14 scored the opening goal in the 14th minute. Holzhacker played a high cross into the penalty area from about 30 meters out. Benjamin Nyarko sprinted into the box and hammered the ball under the crossbar. Full-back Thurnwald had completely overlooked the Admira striker.

Lively first half

The lively play continued. A counter-attack was initiated via Nyarko, reaching Ajanovic, who was brought down by Wels goalkeeper Schröcker. Gemicibasi converted the penalty in the 19th minute, with the help of the left inner post, to make it 0:2.

In the 23rd minute, Wels had another volley attempt. Wernitznig struck the ball firmly from 20 meters out, but too centrally at the goalkeeper. On the ensuing counter-attack, Admira briefly celebrated a third goal, but Ajanovic's strike was disallowed due to offside.

The visitors from Südstadt did not sit back despite the lead. Forst served Ajanovic, who, however, shot wide right of the goal (41'). In the 44th minute, Nyarko had a chance for his second goal after a counter-attack, but also missed.

Second Half

Wels had the first notable action of the second half. A corner kick from Sahin to Tischler was too central and was caught by Steinbauer (52').

Later, Admira celebrated a 0:3 lead again. Ajanovic had the vision for Glitia, who scored his first professional goal with a low shot from 16 meters (60').

After a quickly taken free-kick, Admira's defense was overwhelmed. Hertha played an undisturbed combination until the recently substituted Malinowski coolly converted to make it 1:3 (62').

The next moment of controversy occurred between the 75th and 77th minutes. In the Südstädter penalty area, an Admira and a Wels player went to ground, but no penalty was awarded. Wels coach Christian Heinle apparently lost his temper verbally and was shown the red card.

Wels became increasingly active. Drammeh attempted to reduce the deficit, but Steinbauer made another save (84'). After a corner kick, substitute Admira player Xavi Woudstra headed over the goal (89'). In stoppage time, Steinbauer was tested again but did not concede another goal that evening.

With the final score of 1:3, Admira moves past Hertha Wels and sits in eleventh place with six points. Hertha Wels remains in 13th place with four points.
