Character Shown! Liefering Defeats Voitsberg in the Last Second
The Young Bulls initially come back from behind twice against the promoted team - and turn the game around with the last action.
FC Liefering is rewarded for a strong effort in the 5th round of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, prevailing 3:2 against ASK Voitsberg.
The hosts get off to a dream start in the clash with the Young Bulls. Schubert taps in a cross from Jager from close range (9') - 1:0.
Liefering's response follows a quarter of an hour later. Voitsberg's Vakouftsis blocks a shot from Matjasec in the penalty area with his arm, and Ivanschitz converts the resulting penalty kick low into the left corner (24'/P).
Voitsberg Squanders Chances Before the Break
The promoted team almost immediately retakes the lead. Jager sends the ball wide of the post from a few meters out (27').
Shortly after, Schubert controls the ball with his chest and shoots from a turn against the post. Radics then puts the follow-up shot from a good position against the outside of the post (both 29').
Before the half-time whistle, Schubert also fails to beat 16-year-old Hupfauf, who starts in goal for Liefering for the first time, making him the second-youngest starter in 2. Liga history.
Liefering Shows Character
After the restart, Voitsberg finally gets its 2:1 lead. Neubauer, who was substituted on at half-time, takes a bold shot from 20 meters and beats Hupfauf with a powerful strike into the near corner (52').
The game only picks up pace again in the final stages. Zangerl volleys a cross directly across the penalty area, Dmitrovic parries it into the middle. Matjasec then sends the follow-up shot wide of the goal (75').
However, not much later: Zangerl cuts in from the right wing into the center and successfully finishes from the edge of the box into the far corner (81').
Adejenughure Gives Liefering Late Joy
But it doesn't stay 2:2: With the last action of the game, Ivanschitz sends Adejenughure through, and the ÖFB youth striker gives Dmitrovic no chance to save with his finish (90'+5).
With their second consecutive win, the Young Bulls remain in second place with ten points. After Blau-Weiß Linz's first defeat of the season, the gap to the league leaders is now only two points.
Voitsberg, on the other hand, suffers their second consecutive defeat and sits in eleventh place with five points.
