Blau-Weiß Linz wins the IMMOunited top match of Round 4 against ASK Voitsberg 5-1, solidifying their lead at the top of the table.

The match almost began with a bang.

Blau-Weiß played the ball back to keeper Oelz directly after the kick-off. Oelz's clearance then hit Schubert, and the former Linz player scored after just eight seconds. However, the goal was disallowed, as Schubert apparently handled the ball during Oelz's clearance.

It would have been the fastest goal in LigaZwa history.

Grimbs Puts Them Ahead

The next chance also fell to the Styrians: Following an uncertainty from Oelz, Varesi-Strauss managed to clear the danger at the last moment (9').

The home side, however, seized their first opportunity: After a counter-attack, Vucic unintentionally set up Grimbs, who found the far corner (12').

Despite conceding, Voitsberg continued to play on equal terms, but often lacked the final pass. Blau-Weiß had fewer attacking movements, but when they did, they were usually dangerous.

After a corner, Maranda had a free header from a very good position but headed it straight at Voitsberg goalkeeper Dmitrovic (29').

After 37 minutes, Voitsberg almost equalized: Following a throw-in, former Linz player Knollmüller struck a half-volley from the penalty spot but missed his target.

Blau-Weiß Pulls Away

After the break, it took only a few minutes for the Linz side to make it 2-0. Vucic scored from the spot (53'), after Vakouftsis had brought Kreiker down in the box.

Shortly after, the match was effectively decided as Linz countered again. Following a turnover won by Weinhauer, Frieser brought the ball into the middle, where Tsarenko, with a bit of luck, put the ball into the net (56'). And the goals kept coming: After a corner, captain Varesi-Strauss headed in for 4-0 (61').

Then it was Voitsberg's turn to threaten. Oelz could only parry a shot, but then reacted strongly to Schubert's follow-up (65').

Tsarenko Sees Red

In the final phase, Blau-Weiß shot themselves in the foot: After a corner for the home side, Voitsberg captain Scheucher broke away from the remaining Linz defenders and could only be stopped by a foul from Tsarenko just outside the penalty area.

The Ukrainian predictably received a red card for his professional foul (73'). The playmaker will therefore miss at least next week's match in Kapfenberg for the Köllner squad.

Oelz saved the resulting free-kick from Schubert. However, the Styrians then developed a short period of pressure. In the 76th minute, Zivanovic managed to reduce the deficit to 1-4 with a deflected shot after a corner. It was the first LigaZwa goal conceded by the Linz side this season.

However, the Zulechner squad could not press on further; on the contrary. Weinhauer broke away after a Zivanovic error and scored to make it 5-1 in injury time (90'+1).

The Linz side thus remains at the top of the table without dropping any points. Voitsberg stays on five points and is eleventh.
