FAC celebrates victory in city derby against Rapid II
The Floridsdorfers secure their first LigaZwa away win of the season. The young Hütteldorfers suffer their second consecutive home defeat.
Floridsdorfer AC emerges victorious against SK Rapid II in the 4th round of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga. Goals from Glavan (46') and Lerchbacher (90'+4) secure a 2-0 away win for FAC in front of 460 fans.
FAC coach Sonnleitner returns to his old stomping ground and witnesses a lively opening phase with attacking moves from both sides. For FAC, shots from Piskule (7') and Osmani (12') go wide left of the goal.
For Rapid II, Jozepovic doesn't get a clean shot after a free-kick (10'). In Djezic's attempt, FAC keeper Scharner gathers the ball at the second attempt (13').
Rapid's Music had arguably the best chance of the first half, putting his free-kick just over the bar (27'). At the other end, a Piskule free-kick poses no problem for keeper Orgler, who safely catches the bouncing shot (44').
Kirnbauer clears off the line
At the start of the second half, the visitors from Floridsdorf get off to the perfect start. Following a Vucenovic corner, Glavan forces the ball over the line in a scramble at the far post, giving FAC a 1-0 lead (46').
The young Hütteldorfers want a quick response after conceding but struggle against the FAC defense. Scharner is down quickly for a Jozepovic free-kick towards the goal corner and clears for a corner (60').
In the final fifteen minutes, the Rapid players push for the equalizer. Scharner has to stretch after a long-range shot (74'). After a Rapid corner, the FAC keeper is there again (75').
Around ten minutes later, Music has the best chance to make it 1-1. The youngster impressively chips Scharner, but substitute Kirnbauer clears off the line (84').
Another top chance for the hosts fails to materialize. Instead, FAC seals the 2-0 victory with the last action of the game, as substitute Lerchbacher taps it in (90'+4).
This marks Rapid II's second league defeat. At home, Kerber's team is still without a win. FAC secures their second league victory and overtakes Rapid II in the table. The Floridsdorfers are now sixth, while the Green-Whites are ninth.
