Dream debut for Nutz: Voitsberg thrash Kapfenberg
ASK Voitsberg give Kapfenberger SV no chance in the Styrian derby. A clear home victory is secured on Stefan Nutz's debut.
To conclude matchday 12 of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga, ASK Voitsberg defeated Kapfenberger SV 4-0 in the Styrian derby.
On Stefan Nutz's debut on the Voitsberg sideline, both teams got off to a rather cautious start. The first notable attempt came from Voitsberg winger Manuel Polster in the 20th minute, whose first-time shot from around 20 meters missed the target.
Shortly after, Elias Neubauer delivered a low cross into the box from the right side, but Fabian Schubert just missed connecting with it.
Kapfenberg forget about Schubert
However, Schubert still managed to give the hosts a deserved lead before halftime. The Kapfenberg defense completely lost track of the Voitsberg captain in the penalty area, allowing the 32-year-old to head home unmarked from close range for 1-0 (40').
The "Falcons" offered practically nothing going forward in the first half.
Just seconds after the restart, Voitsberg doubled their lead to 2-0. Neubauer's cross from the right flank found its way through untouched by any Kapfenberg player to Paolo Jager. The Voitsberg man had space to finish from close range, lifting the ball under the crossbar (46').
Substitute strikes twice
The hosts continued to control the match after that. The Kapfenberg defense acted far too passively in many situations.
Just before the hour mark, substitute Martin Krienzer was brought down in the box. The player who drew the foul stepped up to convert the rather controversial penalty himself to make it 3-0 (60').
Kapfenberg's first dangerous attempt did not arrive until the 64th minute. However, Adrian Marinovic's shot posed no threat to Filip Dimitrovic in the Voitsberg goal.
Instead, the hosts extended their lead again through Krienzer, who tapped home a rebound to set the final score at 4-0 (66').
Kapfenberg remain in the relegation zone
With victory in the Styrian derby, Voitsberg move up to tenth place, while Kapfenberg, managed by Michael Liendl, remain in the relegation zone despite going unbeaten in their previous three matches.
After the international break, the Falcons return to action in a direct relegation battle against Hertha Wels. Voitsberg will face SKN St. Pölten.
