Comeback comes too late: Amstetten beats Rapid II
After three goals, victory seemed secured, but the final minutes became exciting once more.
SKU Amstetten beat Rapid II 3-2 on the tenth matchday of the ADMIRAL 2. Liga – but the victory was narrower than it seemed at one point.
After a clear three-goal lead thanks to strikes from Paul Lipczinski (32nd minute), David Peham (just before half-time), and Felix Köchl (midway through the second half), the hosts just managed to hold onto their advantage following late goals from Philipp Moizi (71st minute) and Edvin Rahmani (88th minute).
Dominant Start
The hosts stamped their authority on the match at the Ertl Glas-Stadion right from the start. With plenty of possession, SKU repeatedly penned the Viennese side into their own half.
Rapid II barely registered offensively in the first half. The overdue lead finally came from a superb pass from Köchl, which Lipczinski converted for a deserved opener.
Jürgen Kerber's team appeared overrun, and the Lower Austrians relentlessly pressed on. The outstanding Köchl once again shone as an assist provider, coolly setting up goal scorer Peham for a 2-0 half-time lead.

Even after the break, the script initially only had one direction. Köchl crowned his outstanding performance with a goal of his own to make it 3-0, perfectly set up by Joshua Steiger.
Late Comeback Attempt
The match seemed decided, but the visitors showed heart and morale. Coach Kerber proved to have a golden touch with his substitutions: Moizi, who had already come on in the first half, capitalized on a pass from fellow "super-sub" David Berger to pull one back at 1-3.
Suddenly, Amstetten began to falter, and Rapid II threw everything forward. In the closing stages, the Lower Austrians' penalty area was truly on fire, as Rahmani, also substituted in, reduced the deficit to 2-3 after an assist from Lorenz Szladits.
In the final minutes of stoppage time, the Viennese side vehemently pushed for the equalizer, but referee Samuel Sampl finally ended the intense suspense with the final whistle.
