The fact that Benjamin Karl is continuing his snowboard career after all has not been well received by all of his ÖSV teammates.

Andreas Prommegger and Alexander Payer criticized him in the "Krone", with the latter seeing "team chemistry at risk" due to Karl's comeback.

Now Karl reacts to the statements of his teammates.

Karl: "That the two of them aren't my biggest fans..."

"I would just like to say that we are individual athletes who train together in a team formation and go to races. Of course, it would be desirable if everyone were friends with each other and everything was always 'hunky-dory'. But that's not always how life works. When someone has been involved in the snowboard circuit for as many years as I have and has dealt with the same people repeatedly over such a long period, there are bound to be issues and differing opinions," explains the two-time Olympic champion to the "Kleine Zeitung".

Karl does not seem surprised by his teammates' words. "Basically, you know where you stand with people. I also knew beforehand that the two of them aren't my biggest fans."

A personal conversation with Prommegger and Payer has not yet taken place.
