The start of the 2026/27 Ski World Cup season in Sölden (October 24) will take place without Federica Brignone.

The 36-year-old Italian is on her way back after undergoing another operation in August, during which a plate was removed from her knee.

Back on Skis in Two Weeks?

Brignone wants to be back on skis for the first time in just two weeks, as she told the daily newspaper "Il Giornale". She admits she is still quite handicapped at the moment.

"There are still things I can't do. Stairs can be a problem, I can't run, and tennis is still off-limits," said the Italian.

Her health is her top priority, she states. If her body can't give more, her World Cup return will also take longer. "First, I want to get healthy as a person before I think about my return as an athlete."

Speed Comeback Before Giant Slalom Comeback?

So, everything depends on the healing process. This will also decide which disciplines she wants to compete in this season:

"If I feel better in the speed disciplines, I could compete there. And if the turns work well, the giant slalom will also be an option."
