Brignone's Difficult Road Back: "I'm Constantly in Pain"
After her horror injury, the Italian is working on another comeback. However, this is proving challenging, and her body will never fully recover.
Federica Brignone continues to work on her comeback after the severe foot injury she sustained in April 2025, but she is not yet fully fit.

In an interview with "L’Équipe", the Italian offers honest insights. "I can cycle, swim, and go to the gym, but I can't run and can barely put weight on it. My muscles have rebuilt, it's getting better, but I'm a long way from being as fit as before. I'm constantly in pain," she says.
Comeback on Skis Planned
Nevertheless, the two-time Olympic champion from 2026 has a clear goal in mind. In August, she wants to strap on her skis again and participate in the Italian training camp. However, she also realistically explains: "I will try. I don't know yet if I can do the upcoming season."
Her comeback last winter, with gold in the Super-G and giant slalom in Cortina, was impressive. But it was by no means easy for the 36-year-old. "If I suffer as much as I did last season, it won't be bearable. My body will never fully recover from it," she says. Despite her great success, the two-time world champion ended her season prematurely.
Further Olympic Participation Ruled Out
Starting at the Olympics was generally crazy, she explained, as she had been able to train very little beforehand due to severe pain.
However, Brignone is certain about one thing. The Olympic Games are history for her as a skier. She is also aware of the permanent risk as a professional athlete. "As soon as you ski at a top level, you risk getting injured. All the time," she concludes.
After her active career, she wants to travel and do sports without pressure. So, whether we will see Brignone next winter remains to be seen.
