Injured by a tourist: ÖSV skier to compete in Levi
Last December, Oscar Heine was unluckily injured during warm-up. Now he is set for his World Cup debut in Levi.
Great news for Oscar Heine: The 23-year-old has successfully qualified for the upcoming Ski World Cup slalom in Levi (November 15).
"Awesome, just awesome," Heine is quoted by "Krone." In the internal ÖSV qualification, which took place in Sölden, Heine finished third behind Johannes Strolz and Simon Rueland. Adrian Pertl, however, missed out as fourth.
For Heine, it's a remarkable turnaround: Just last December, he suffered a torn medial collateral ligament and a tear of the posterior cruciate ligament when he was unluckily run over by a tourist during warm-up.
Heine wants to be "among the top 30" in the World Cup
The Carinthian returned to skis already in June. The preparation went smoothly.
"I had a good summer, and was already skiing well at the camp in Ushuaia," said Heine, who has achieved one podium finish in the Europa Cup so far (2nd place in the slalom in Baqueira Beret 2025) and is now allowed to start in the World Cup for the first time.
The goals for this winter are clearly defined for the technical specialist: "In the World Cup, I want to get among the top 30. In the Europa Cup, I want to perform well, possibly earning a fixed spot."
