Austria celebrates a perfect start in the Davis Cup tie against Belgium.

Jurij Rodionov won his first match against Gauthier Onclin (ATP 142.), who is ranked just behind him in the world rankings, with a score of 6:4, 6:1.

Rodionov holds his nerve and strikes

The first set initially presented a very balanced picture. Both players held their service games, but at 3:2, the Austrian managed to break his opponent's serve for the first time.

However, Onclin was able to counter, securing an immediate re-break. At 4:4, the Belgian had two more break points, but Rodionov held his nerve.

In the following game, the ÖTV ace once again created a break opportunity, which he then converted to win the set.

Clear second set

The second set then quickly tilted in the Austrian's favor. Thanks to two early breaks, Rodionov quickly built a 4:0 lead.

Although the Belgian then managed to break his opponent's serve, the ÖTV ace remained true to his game.

In his final service game, he had to fight a bit more, but with his seventh match point overall, the Austrian secured the victory.

Thanks to the win, the ÖTV team has gained an initial advantage. The duel between Lukas Neumayer and Zizou Bergs continues from approximately 3:00 PM (LIVE ticker>>>).
