Favorite's win for Rodionov in Bonn Round of 16
The Austrian defeats a German and will now face a compatriot of his opponent in the quarterfinals.
Jurij Rodionov has reached the quarterfinals at the Challenger in Bonn!
The world No. 136 defeated Niels McDonald (GER/ATP-509.) 7:6 (3), 6:3.
The first set was fiercely contested. The German started the match better and pulled ahead 3-0. Thereupon, the Austrian fought his way back and took the lead for the first time at 6-5. However, a decision was only made in the tie-break, which Rodionov won 7-3.
In the second set, McDonald also claimed the first game before Rodionov dictated the pace. The ÖTV player did not fall behind again and closed out the match with a 6-3 score.
After 1 hour and 48 minutes, the 27-year-old ultimately advanced to the next round. There, the winner will face the German Mackenzie.
