Misolic Reaches Round of 16 in Florence
The 25-year-old defeats a Brit at the Challenger tournament.
Filip Misolic (ATP-495) defeated Britain's Felix Gill (ATP-227) 7:6(5), 6:1 in the round of 32 of the ATP Challenger in Florence.
In the first set, both players were solid on their own serve. Misolic fended off a break point from Gill at 2-2, while Misolic in turn squandered a set point at 4-5. It went to a tie-break, which Misolic won 7-5.
Misolic started the second set with a break, securing it on his fourth opportunity. With another break to go up 4-1, Misolic paved the way for victory. A third break saw Misolic claim the win after 1 hour and 46 minutes of play.
In the round of 16, Misolic will now face world No. 409, Spaniard Izan Almazan Valiente.
