Miedler/Oberleitner storm into Masters 1000 semi-finals!
The Austrian tennis doubles pair continues its run in Shanghai and is now fighting for their first joint final.
Great success for Lucas Miedler and Neil Oberleitner! The Austrian tennis duo advances to the doubles semi-finals of the ATP Masters 1000 hardcourt tournament in Shanghai.
It is the greatest success to date for the still young pairing, which is now eyeing its first final since they teamed up. For both Miedler and Oberleitner, it would be their first Masters 1000 final of their careers.
This was made possible by a quarter-final victory on Thursday over Marc Polmans/Jan Zielinski (AUS/POL). The two Austrians ultimately prevailed 7:6(5), 6:4 after 1 hour and 20 minutes of play.
New Career-High for Oberleitner
In Friday's semi-final, they now await the Germans Jakob Schnaitter/Mark Wallner, who eliminated top seeds Christian Harrison/Neal Skupski (USA/GBR) from the tournament in the quarter-finals.
In the ATP doubles live world ranking, Miedler (career-high: 19) has already moved up to position 22, and Oberleitner (career-high: 38) to rank 30.
