Tennis Sensation! Carlos Alcaraz to play in Vienna
The Spaniard will participate in the Erste Bank Open at the Wiener Stadthalle, completing an already star-studded field of players.
Carlos Alcaraz will surprisingly compete at the Erste Bank Open in the Wiener Stadthalle this autumn. This was officially confirmed by the organizers on Thursday.
The seven-time Grand Slam champion will play his first match on Tuesday, October 27, on Centre Court.
The Spanish superstar fought his way back at the end of August after a several-month injury break and recently won a tournament again for the first time with the ATP 500 event in Tokyo.
At the Masters 1000 event in Shanghai, however, Alcaraz was already eliminated in the second round.
Sinner withdraws
Although another top athlete, Jannik Sinner, has withdrawn due to injury, the field of participants in Vienna is nevertheless prominently stacked. US Open winner and world number one Alexander Zverev leads the field.
In addition to Alcaraz, Alex de Minaur, Daniil Medvedev, and Flavio Cobolli, among others, will also compete. In total, six of the world's Top 10 are competing in Vienna.
