ÖTTV player Daniel Habesohn is calling it a day and ending his team career.

The table tennis association announced this in a press release on Tuesday. After three gold medals at European Championships and five Olympic Games, the Viennese native has had enough.

The 40-year-old will therefore miss the upcoming European Championship in October in Ljubljana.

"The main reason for my retirement is the increasingly tight schedule in table tennis. To be at the top of the rankings, you have to constantly travel, and I noticed that the tournaments weren't as much fun for me anymore. I realized that the few extra percentages you need to train well just weren't there anymore," Habesohn explained his retirement.

Focus on German Bundesliga

The Austrian will continue his career in the German Bundesliga (Bad Königshofen).

He now also has more time to prepare for it.
