NBA in mourning: Ex-pro dies at 43
Michael Sweetney played 233 games in the NBA. The cause of his death is still unclear.
The NBA is mourning the loss of former player Michael Sweetney.
As announced by his former team, the New York Knicks, on Instagram, he passed away at the age of just 43. A cause of death was not specified.
"The Knicks are deeply saddened by the passing of Michael Sweetney. Michael was an exceptional person who will be missed by many. Our thoughts are with his family," the club wrote.
In addition to the aforementioned team, Sweetney also played for the Chicago Bulls. He played a total of 233 NBA games.
In 2003, Sweetney was selected ninth overall by the Knicks in the NBA Draft before moving to Chicago in 2005. He ended his career in 2007.
