Double Best Time for Acosta: "It's Still Only Friday!"

Pedro Acosta had a perfect start to KTM's home MotoGP event in Spielberg on Friday.

The 22-year-old Spaniard completed both practice sessions with the fastest time, thereby positioning himself as a favorite for victory in both the Sprint and the main race.

"I'm satisfied. The team worked well. This is a good start to KTM's home GP," Acosta summarized.

Still Plenty of Potential

Despite his convincing performance, KTM's flagship rider still sees a lot of potential. "I still have problems in several corners and will try to improve," he said.

Specifically, Acosta referred to turns three, five, six, and seven. There, teammate Brad Binder was "quite impressive." The South African also directly secured his spot in Q2 by finishing seventh.

Acosta found appreciative words for Binder: "Brad was only 0.2 seconds behind me, even faster in Sector 3. I had difficulties there."

First MotoGP Victory in Spielberg, of all places?

The Moto3 and Moto2 champion is still waiting for his first premier class victory. Could Acosta triumph for the first time in the premier class at the Red Bull Ring?

The Spaniard deliberately remained cautious: "It's still only Friday! Let's wait and see how much Ducati and Aprilia can improve on Saturday."

He is keeping an eye on his compatriot Fermin Aldeguer, who finished second behind him. Last year, the Ducati rider only had to concede defeat to Marc Marquez in the race.

Acosta stressed that he feels no pressure. "It was a good day - but we are not yet where we need to be for the win."
