Severe Verstappen Crash on Lap One
A driving error of his own proves to be the undoing of the four-time world champion on the start-finish straight.
A bitter home Grand Prix for Max Verstappen!
The Dutchman crashes heavily in Zandvoort already on lap one. The race is subsequently red-flagged, but the four-time world champion is fine. The car, however, is severely damaged.
On a still damp track, Verstappen takes a risk in the fast corner leading onto the start-finish straight, rides the inside curb and slides off. The four-time world champion hits the barriers on both sides.
This marks a particularly bitter end to the home race for the 28-year-old.
