Ocon's Exit Sealed: Haas Reportedly Agreed on Successor
According to media reports, the American racing team is set to part ways with Esteban Ocon at the end of the season. His successor is also reportedly already confirmed.
Formula 1 can look forward to a new face in the upcoming season.
As reported by the Italian specialist portal "Autoracer", the American racing team Haas will make a driver change at the end of the season. Esteban Ocon has been under significant pressure for months, and now his time in Formula 1 is reportedly set to come to an abrupt end.
Haas is also said to have already agreed on a successor: Rafael Câmara. The deal with the 21-year-old Brazilian is reportedly "almost done".
Gene Haas as an Advocate
According to the specialist portal, the decision was made in recent days during testing in Jerez, Spain. Alongside Câmara, Jack Doohan and Leonardo Fornaroli were also in action.
However, the Brazilian's data is said to have been the most promising. Haas owner Gene Haas has emerged as Câmara's biggest advocate.
The current second-place driver in the Formula 2 standings is currently under contract with Ferrari.
However, the contractual terms are unlikely to pose a major obstacle, as the Scuderia supplies Haas with engines and thus maintains good contact with the American racing team. Two drivers, Mick Schumacher and Oliver Bearman, have already taken a similar path.
