Verstappen Secures 50th Pole for His 250th Formula 1 Race
The Dutchman narrowly edges out Charles Leclerc in Singapore qualifying. He joins an elite circle of five drivers.
Max Verstappen secures pole position for the 250th Formula 1 race of his career at the Singapore Grand Prix. It is also the 50th pole of his career, making him the fifth driver after Ayrton Senna, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, and Lewis Hamilton to reach this milestone.
The four-time world champion is unbeatable in qualifying after his sprint victory on Saturday, with Charles Leclerc finishing a razor-thin second behind the Dutchman (+0.054).
Ferrari teammate Lewis Hamilton (+0.123) takes third place in qualifying, with championship leader Kimi Antonelli (+0.189) finishing fourth ahead of Lando Norris (+0.339).
Oscar Piastri finishes a disappointing seventh with a significant gap (+0.487).
Hadjar with Recurring Engine Problems
The unlucky driver of qualifying is Verstappen's teammate Isack Hadjar, who had to retire already in Q1 due to recurring engine problems and will start the race from P21 tomorrow.
George Russell finishes the qualifying, which is meaningless for him, in P6, as the Brit must start from the very back due to a grid penalty.
The main race in Singapore will follow this Sunday (2:00 PM in the LIVE ticker).
