Good News! VSV Set to Start ICE Season
The two-and-a-half-hour crisis meeting yields a positive result. For now, the "Eagles" appear to be saved.
VSV will be able to start the 2026/27 win2day ICE Hockey League season as planned.
After a crisis meeting lasting around two and a half hours at Villach City Hall, the club appears to be saved for now.
"This was a huge effort in recent days. Under immense time pressure, we held many discussions, calculated solutions, took responsibility, and, together with strong partners from the business community and the ICE Hockey League, found a way to start the championship. This is an important signal for our fans, sponsors, and for all of Villach," says chairman Manfred Herzog.
Further details on how a framework for operations could ultimately be found are not yet known. In any case, there was recently a budget shortfall of 600,000 euros needed for a season start – in addition to millions in legacy debt.
Meanwhile, the search for a new managing director continues, but there is reportedly a preferred candidate with whom "positive discussions" are being held.
