Bitter! KAC loses third consecutive CHL game
Klagenfurt suffers defeat to Kölner Haie on CHL Matchday 4, despite a strong first period.
KAC suffers its third consecutive defeat in the Champions Hockey League.
In the 4th round, the "Red Jackets" lose 1:3 to the Kölner Haie, despite a promising start to the game. Raphael Herburger gives the Carinthians a 1-0 lead (8th).
However, Cologne turned up the pressure in the second period. Patrick Russell scored twice (24th/39th) to turn the game around to 2-1. Both times, the hosts were on a power play after a penalty to a KAC player.
Luck right after the restart
In the first minute of the third period, the Germans almost sealed the game. However, Cologne's 3-1 goal was disallowed after a video review.
Despite numerous efforts, KAC could not equalize. Shortly before the end, however, the Kölner Haie did score their third goal. Marcel Noebels made it 3-1 (58th).
Klagenfurt is now 20th in the CHL after four rounds. Their next match is against KooKoo Kouvola from Finland on October 6.
