The World Cup quarterfinals will be finalized this weekend – with a "double header" on Saturday evening and into Sunday morning.

England aims to spoil the run for surprise team Norway, after which there will be a clear situation in the clash between defending champion Argentina and Switzerland, who have advanced this far in a knockout round again after several decades.

An overview of the schedule for July 11:

Schedule, July 11 (CEST):

23:00: Norway - England (LIVE Ticker >>>)

  • Norway is in the quarterfinals of a FIFA World Cup for the first time ever. Erling Braut Haaland sealed the greatest success in the association's history with his brace in the 2-1 win against record world champions Brazil.

  • England fought their way to a 3-2 victory over co-hosts Mexico in the round of 16, despite a red card against Jarell Quansah. Jude Bellingham scored twice and led the "Three Lions" to their third consecutive World Cup quarterfinal.

  • This will be the 13th international match between Norway and England. The English have won seven of the previous twelve encounters, Norway has won three times, and there have been two draws.

  • With Erling Braut Haaland and Harry Kane, two of the most prolific strikers of their generation will meet. Haaland has already scored seven goals at this World Cup and practically single-handedly led Norway to the quarterfinals, while Kane has also scored six times so far.

Schedule, July 12 (CEST):

3:00: Argentina - Switzerland (LIVE Ticker >>>)

  • Switzerland is in a World Cup quarterfinal again for the first time in 72 years. The Swiss last achieved this success at the home World Cup in 1954.

  • Historically, Argentina has been a real nightmare for the Swiss. The Swiss national team has never won a competitive match against Argentina. In the entire international match history of both nations, Argentina leads the record with a clear goal difference of 15:3.

  • The duel promises to be a real clash of styles. While Argentina's offense, featuring Messi and Julián Álvarez, poses an enormous goal threat but has already conceded four goals defensively in the knockout round (two 3-2 wins against Cape Verde after extra time and Egypt), Switzerland relies on its defensive strength. The Swiss conceded not a single goal in the last two matches before the penalty shootout.
