Last Minute! Sturm Women take the lead in Europa Cup Qualifiers
The Graz women win at home against the Lithuanian serial champions thanks to two late goals.
SK Sturm Graz Women win the first leg of the first qualifying round of the UEFA Women's Europa Cup against FC Gintra with a score of 2-1.
Against the Lithuanian serial champions, Sturm fell behind in the first half. Khrystyna Pereviznyk scored after 20 minutes to give the visitors a 1-0 lead at halftime.
Sturm significantly improves
Overall, the Graz women controlled the game, even having over 70 percent possession. However, the threat in front of goal was missing for a long time. Later in the second half, Sturm increased the pressure and finally forced the equalizer: Lena Breznik scored after 80 minutes to make it 1-1!
But that wasn't all: 14 minutes later, Breznik became a two-goal scorer. In the final minute of the match, she scored the winning goal – thus securing her team the crucial home victory.
The second leg in Lithuania is scheduled for next Wednesday (11:00 AM).
