Spain remains flawless, but not without minor issues.

On the third matchday of the UEFA Nations League, the world champions prevailed 3-1 against the Czech Republic in Group A3.

Yamal scores quick goal

The squad, heavily rotated compared to the 4-1 win against Croatia, set the tone from the start. After Yamal missed the first big chance after 55 seconds, he did better five minutes later. The Czechs allowed him clearly too much space; he shot and scored a spectacular goal to make it 1-0.

The game remained one-sided. After a nice combination, Olmo was denied by Kinsky (33'). However, Rodri got to the ball moments later and extended the lead to 2-0 from about eleven meters (35').

Kinsky repeatedly

The pattern continued. The Czechs were increasingly struggling to stop the world champions, and it was no different in the 37th minute. Kinsky saved again, this time against Baena.

After the break, Spain made a double substitution. Goalscorer Yamal left the field. Nevertheless, the hosts had further chances. Fernandez was denied by the Czech goalkeeper from close range (50').

Czech Republic gets one back

It only became eventful again in the 69th minute. Hlozek sent Slama, who scored almost out of nowhere with a direct shot to reduce the deficit and make the game exciting again.

Shortly after, the equalizer almost came. After a mistake in the build-up, Ling shot, but Raya managed to clear with difficulty.

The supposed equalizer

The visitors were now pushing and scored the supposed 2-2. However, the referee blew his whistle moments before due to a foul (79').

Thus, despite a strong final offensive, the Czechs could no longer equalize, and they also had to play with ten men from the 85th minute after Krejci was sent off with a straight red card. Spain, however, added a third goal through Merino to make it 3-1 (89').

In the standings, Spain remains on top. The world champions are three points clear of England at the top. Croatia is third (3 points), while the Czech Republic continues to wait for points.

Switzerland successful against Slovenia

Switzerland was also victorious in Group B1 against Slovenia. Eakins's squad won 2-1 after initial difficulties.

The visitors got off to a lightning start. After just two minutes, the Slovenians celebrated the opening goal. Vipotnik was barely challenged and coolly slotted home to make it 1-0.

The hosts' response was not long in coming. After a corner kick, the ball came to Janza, who directed it towards his own goal. Oblak then made a major blunder. He misjudged the ball, making it 1-1.

Switzerland turns the game around

Murat Yakin's team now got better into the game, while Slovenia opted for a very physical style of play. After 29 minutes, three players had already been booked.

After some quiet minutes, Switzerland turned the game around. Amdouni lost the ball, but it eventually found its way to Ndoye, who could tap it in for a 2-1 lead (38').

Even after the break, little changed in the game's flow. It took place almost exclusively in the Slovenians' half. Oblak made amends for his first-half mistake with saves against Manzambi (60') and Amdouni (68').

No further goals were scored, so Switzerland triumphed 2-1, securing their third win in their third game.

Scotland wins against North Macedonia

In the third game of the evening, Scotland also prevailed 2-0 against North Macedonia in Group B1.

The visitors took an early lead. In the seventh minute, Bowie scored to make it 1-0. In the second half, McGinn extended the lead to 2-0 with a penalty (69').

However, the goalscorer was sent off with a red card in the 83rd minute. The hosts, however, could not capitalize on their numerical advantage and lost 0-2.

In the standings, Switzerland leads with nine points, Slovenia and Scotland both have four points, while North Macedonia remains without points.
