Lionel Messi's father Jorge Messi has passed away at the age of 68.
He suffered from pancreatic cancer and succumbed to the illness on Friday evening in a clinic in his hometown of Rosario, as reported by Argentine media.
Jorge Messi was also his son's advisor and manager. His health deteriorated shortly before the start of the World Cup; even during the tournament, there was a statement from the family – at that time, positive progress in the healing process was announced.
