FIFA President Gianni Infantino has already drawn much criticism for his idea to sell shares of the World Cup.
Now, ÖFB defender Philipp Lienhart has also spoken out. "It's unbelievable, it's truly insane what's happening. I actually find it difficult to find the right words," Lienhart said in an interview with "Eurosport".
However, the 30-year-old is relieved that UEFA and several other associations have taken a firm stand against it.
"It doesn't matter at all what origin or religion someone has"
Situations concerning referee Omar Artan, who was denied entry to the USA, or the harassment involving the Iranian national team are things that simply shouldn't happen.
"Football belongs to all of us. It doesn't matter at all what origin or religion someone has," explains the Freiburg player.
At the World Cup, Lienhart featured for Austria against Algeria and Jordan.
