UEFA maintains boycott, CAF supports Infantino

After Gianni Infantino continues to enjoy "full support" from within the world governing body following FIFA's crisis meeting, UEFA is insisting on its boycott threats.

In response to an inquiry from the German Press Agency (dpa), the European association stated: "Firstly, the proposals for the sale of major competitions had to be withdrawn. Secondly, assurances had to be given that such attempts to disfigure football in this manner would never again be made."

For UEFA, however, it remains clear that the FIFA President has lost confidence: "Yesterday's announcement that some employees of the FIFA President (whose careers depend on his favor) agree with him changes nothing."

Opposition for Infantino also from CONMEBOL

Infantino also faces opposition from the South American confederation. In a statement on CONMEBOL's website, concern was expressed "about the repeated unilateral measures that have been taken without resorting to dialogue or the established institutional mechanisms for addressing such situations."

Within a few days, the perception of football had changed: "While football was still at the center of global attention due to the staging of an exceptional sporting event, public debate is now focused on questions of its governance."

Regarding the upcoming FIFA presidential election, South America remains firm: "Consequently, CONMEBOL will not support any actions or procedures that ignore or deviate from these institutional mechanisms."

CAF supports FIFA President

However, different tones are coming from Africa: "The CAF Executive Committee unanimously reaffirmed its support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino and thanked him for his years of support for African football."
