Driving Ban Until 2099? Record Penalty for Mauro Icardi

In recent years, Mauro Icardi has often made more headlines off the pitch than on it.
Now, the clubless Argentinian is once again making headlines – this time due to an unusual penalty: In Argentina, a precautionary driving ban until the year 2099 has been imposed on the 33-year-old.
The trigger is a video circulating on social media, which shows Icardi driving in a gated residential community.
While driving, his partner China Suárez unbuckles her seatbelt, climbs out of the window, and leans her upper body out of the vehicle.
No Valid Driver's License
During a subsequent check, authorities apparently found that Icardi did not possess a valid driver's license. His Italian driver's license should have been re-registered and renewed in Buenos Aires back in 2019.
The Ministry of Transport of Buenos Aires Province accused the footballer of gross negligence. According to the Ministry of Transport of Buenos Aires Province, the driving ban was imposed due to the video and the identified violations of traffic regulations.
Icardi seemed unimpressed by the measure and publicly defended himself against the accusations: "You should rather worry about repairing the roads. (…) Do your job instead of doing nothing."
Icardi Looking for a Club
The former Inter striker is currently looking for a new club. The headlines will definitely not make the search any easier.
