FC Sion has unveiled spectacular plans for a new home ground.

Heinz Lindner's former club has submitted the "Sion 2030" stadium project to the relevant authorities to replace the aging Tourbillon Stadium.

Up to 100 Events Annually

The plans even include a roller coaster on the surrounding stadium grounds.

The new arena is set to be named "Cervin Coliseum" and will offer space for 21,000 people during football matches. However, it is not intended to be a pure football stadium, but rather to be used year-round. The plan foresees up to 100 events per year.

Behind one of the goals, there will be no traditional stand, but rather a huge concert stage. According to the project designs, concert events would accommodate up to 33,000 spectators. The arena is to be fitted with a retractable roof.

Costs of around Half a Billion Euros

Furthermore, the plans include an 80-room hotel and the aforementioned roller coaster, which is intended to snake around the stadium. This aims to continuously attract visitors even outside of events.

The construction is expected to cost around 450 million Swiss Francs (approx. 480 million Euros).
