Commotion at Arnautovic's Club: Albert Riera Suspends Club Icon
Even at his new club, ex-Frankfurt coach Albert Riera causes controversies.
A personnel decision by coach Albert Riera is causing a stir at Red Star Belgrade.
As reported by the Serbian portal "Mozzart Sport", the Spaniard is said to have suspended club icon Aleksandar Katai for two competitive matches for disciplinary reasons.
With 328 competitive appearances and 160 goals, the Serb is the record player and record goalscorer for Marko Arnautovic's club.
Incident already occurred before the international break
The trigger is said to have been the 35-year-old's behaviour during his substitution in the match against Radnički Niš.
Katai had to make way for Mirko Ivanić in the 60th minute and is said to have clearly expressed his displeasure.
In that game, Marko Arnautovic scored a goal and was also substituted in the 60th minute.
Riera frequently caused controversies at Frankfurt
Riera is said to have been anything but satisfied with the veteran's reaction.
According to the report, Katai thus undermined the coach's authority within the team.
Officially, the attacker's absence was attributed to an injury. However, according to "Mozzart Sport", an internal disciplinary measure is behind his non-selection.
