Alvaro Morata on the verge of surprising move to Madrid
The Spaniard wanted to return to Madrid and is now apparently signing with the fourth Madrid club of his career.
Alvaro Morata (33) moved from AC Milan to Como on loan with an obligation to buy in the summer of 2025.
In the team of ex-Barca star Cesc Fabregas, the Spaniard never truly established himself. Therefore, the attacker is apparently aiming for a return to his hometown of Madrid.
Second Division in Madrid
According to "SER Radio", he is now heading to the Spanish capital on loan. He is set to play for Leganes in La Liga 2 there. This sporting step backward is primarily due to the player's desire to return to Madrid.
The 2024 European champion played for Madrid clubs Atletico, Getafe, and Real in his youth. Later, he played for Atletico (154 games) and Real (95 games) in several stints.
Still in La Liga in 2024/25
Now, apparently, a third Madrid club from the second tier is being added. Leganes finished only 16th in the second division last season. In 2024/25, the club still played in the top flight. They started the new season with four points from two games.
With Alvaro Morata, the club apparently also hopes for a return to the Spanish top flight.
