Pitch damaged! PSG cannot play at home
The French champions cannot play their first match of the new Ligue 1 season at their home ground, the Parc des Princes, as planned.
No home game for Paris Saint-Germain to kick off Ligue 1!
Instead of a home game against Stade Rennes, the defending champions will now play an away game to start the season on Sunday (from 8:45 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>).
The reason: "The recent heatwave, which followed a series of consecutive and exceptional heatwaves in the Paris region this summer, has significantly worsened the condition of the pitch at the Parc des Princes," according to the club's statement.
Player safety cannot be guaranteed. For this reason, the fixture has been swapped. Work is underway to find a solution for the pitch problem.
