Brentford defeated Chelsea 2-0 on the fifth matchday of the Premier League.

For Brentford, former Salzburg player Jannik Schuster started in the Premier League for the second consecutive time and played the full match.

Morgan Rogers had the first significant chance of the game, narrowly missing for Chelsea in the 10th minute.

The first half was very low on chances; any danger that arose typically came from long-range shots.

Schuster Sets Up 1-0

The game also meandered for the first 15 minutes of the second half. Then, Anthony scored the 1-0 in the 61st minute.

The assist came from none other than Schuster. Following a cross from the left, the 20-year-old rose at the far post and headed the ball back into the middle, where Anthony only had to nod it in.

Chelsea Lacks Threat

The "Blues" strived for midfield control for long stretches of the game. However, Xabi Alonso's side lacked decisive ideas.

Palmer and Rogers repeatedly showcased their technical class, but no real end product materialized from their efforts.

Among those consistently disrupting challenges was former Rapid player Mamadou Sangare.

Late Goals Make It Decisive

Igor Thiago then extinguished Chelsea's last hopes. Following a counter-attack, he converted a rebound to make it 2-0 (83').

Carvalho, who had been substituted in shortly before, established the 3-0 final score (90+4').

Brentford remains undefeated and temporarily moves up to third place.
