Suspension! Salzburg Qualifier Drowned in Rain
The "Bulls'" European Cup opener is interrupted after just a few minutes due to heavy rain over Wals-Siezenheim.
FC Salzburg's European Cup opener threatens to be called off.
In the third round of Europa League qualification, the "Bulls" are hosting Cypriot representatives FC Pafos on Thursday evening (NOW in the LIVE ticker>>>). However, the match had to be interrupted after just 15 minutes.
Shortly before kickoff, heavy rain began in Wals-Siezenheim, and the match was affected by the weather conditions from the start. Hardly a pass found its intended recipient, and dribbling quickly became impossible.
After 15 minutes, referee Damian Sylwestrzak pulled the emergency brake and sent both teams to the changing rooms.
Whether the game can still be continued on Thursday currently remains uncertain. The rain has eased somewhat in the meantime, but lightning is still repeatedly visible over the Red Bull Arena.
