Special Campaign: Como Executives Gift Their Own CL Tickets
The Serie A club will make its Champions League debut on Thursday against RB Leipzig. The club's leadership has come up with a special plan for the occasion.
A very special journey begins for Como 1907 on Thursday!
For the first time in the club's history, the club from Lake Como will compete in the league phase of the UEFA Champions League. To kick off, German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig will be guests in Como on Thursday (from 9 PM in the LIVE ticker >>>).
Tickets Are Being Given Away
For the occasion, the club has come up with something special. The Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium, located directly on Lake Como, can only hold around 11,000 spectators for international matches. Too few for the high demand.
Therefore, the board, led by club president Mirwan Suwarso, announced on Instagram on Tuesday that he and his fellow board members will be giving away their seats to fans.
However, the campaign only applies to supporters who were born in 1950 or earlier and have therefore followed the club for several decades.
“The stadium is completely sold out. Given the reduced capacity and the limited number of tickets, we unfortunately cannot let everyone who wants to be there in,” Suwarso writes in his statement. However, through this campaign, they aim to reward the fans “who have followed Como in every era.”
2024 Promotion to Serie A
In 2019, a British company took over the club. Since then, Como has been on the rise. In 2024, the club was promoted back to Serie A after 21 years, and two years later, they are now playing in the Champions League.
Head coach is football legend Cesc Fabregas. Until recently, two Austrians, Matthias Braunöder and Marlon Mustapha, were also part of the squad.
