Police Investigating: Did WAC Coaches Brawl at U9 Tournament?
The coach has since been dismissed by WAC, though he denies the incident. The coaching staff has been banned for several years by tournament organizers.
Three WAC youth coaches were reportedly involved in a brawl at an under-9 tournament.
This was reported by the "Kronen Zeitung". According to the report, the incident took place at a youth tournament featuring over 1,300 children in Maribor, Slovenia.
The altercation reportedly occurred during a match against NK Kungota. According to Slovenian media, security personnel intervened, and police are investigating on suspicion of bodily harm.
Banned for Five Years
"On September 20, we were informed of an incident at a sporting event where an argument broke out between two men, resulting in minor injuries to one person," Maribor police were quoted as saying by the "Krone".
The head coach of the Wolfsberg U9 team — along with the opposing team's coach — received a five-year ban from the tournament from the organizers, while the assistant coaches were banned for three years. The ban was confirmed by the youth coach, who has since been dismissed.
"But nothing happened there," he told the "Krone".
