WAC: Defender's Future Settled
The Lavanttal club signs a defensive player to a new contract.
Cheick Mamadou Diabate extends his contract with Wolfsberger AC.
The Ivorian (22) signs a new deal with the Lavanttal club, running until 2030. His original contract would have expired at the end of the season.
The central defender has made 72 appearances for the "Wolfsrudel" (Wolf Pack) so far, winning the ÖFB Cup in 2024/25 under Didi Kühbauer. Diabate joined from Israeli club Maccabi Petah Tikva in February 2024.
"I am very happy that my journey with WAC continues, and I will do my best to achieve the club's goals together with my teammates," says Diabate.
Head coach Thomas Silberberger: "The extension until 2030 is also a sign of our trust in Mamadou. Now it's up to him to repay that trust with consistent performances. My coaching staff and I see great potential in him, which he needs to tap into."
